Cookie Policy

Last Updated: 10 May 2025

This page explains what cookies are, which ones Heirloom Path uses, and how you can manage your preferences. Cookies help us keep the site running and understand how visitors use it — they do not hold any family heritage information.

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember certain information about your visit — such as whether you have accepted our cookie notice — so you are not asked the same question on every page load.

Cookies cannot access files on your device, run programmes, or identify you personally unless you have provided identifying information through a form.

2. Cookies We Use

Essential Cookies

Always On

Required for the website to function. They enable navigation and the use of our contact form. These cannot be disabled.

Examples: cookieConsent (localStorage), session ID

Analytics Cookies

Help us understand how visitors move through the site in aggregate — which pages attract interest and where visitors arrive from. Data is anonymised.

Examples: _ga, _gid (Google Analytics)

Marketing Cookies

Used by advertising platforms (such as Google Ads or Facebook) to measure the effectiveness of advertisements and to personalise ads where applicable.

Examples: _fbp, Google Ads conversion tags

Preference Cookies

Remember choices you make to improve your experience, such as your region or language settings.

Examples: language preference, display settings

3. Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies are placed by third-party services we use to analyse and improve our site. We do not control these cookies directly. Third-party services may include:

  • Google Analytics — aggregated usage statistics. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Google Ads — conversion tracking. Governed by Google's Advertising Privacy Policy.
  • Meta Pixel — website event tracking where applicable. Governed by Meta's Data Policy.

You can opt out of analytics cookies using the preference controls below or by disabling them in your browser.

4. Cookie Duration

Cookies fall into two categories by lifespan:

Session Cookies

Exist only for the duration of your browser session. Deleted automatically when you close your browser.

Persistent Cookies

Stored on your device until their expiry date or until you delete them. Duration varies: our consent cookie persists for 12 months; analytics cookies may persist up to 24 months.

5. Your Cookie Preferences

Use the controls below to manage which cookies you allow. Essential cookies cannot be disabled as they are required for the site to function.
